Cavalcante Viridiana Valencia

Of course, getting captured by a government desperate to cling onto its fast-fading past and being tortured for revolutionary secrets does tend to leave its dents on a person, so his quiet, watchful ways might have come about as a part of that, too. He's always looking over his shoulder, watching his back, because one day, he knows someone's going to be after him for something. Again. Cal is a tactician, always looking to improve his strategy and find more loopholes in the other man's system. He can dissect a person and put him back together in seconds. Cold, hard, logical—that's Cal Valencia, when it comes to his plans. He doesn't take contradiction, and he doesn't take prisoners. Cal's rule is military and strict and stops to spare no one.
Odd, then, that he's found a friend in possibly the most childish girl on the island. Cal isn't a person with many soft spots, but he does adore Rose, who he's taken on as something akin to a little sister. The thing about Rose is that she fits into all his little, hollow crevices; she's visionary where he's harsh and logical, and she knows how to see the bright side of things when he can only plot out the course of possible failures. Cal is extremely protective of Rose, though he tries not to tout that weakness, and were anything to happen to her, he'd do anything to remedy it. As much as he can't stand Rose's superstitious side and the fact that he has to grab her by the scruff of the neck and throw some more clothes on her before they go outside, he could talk to her for hours on end about human nature and metaphysics—even though Rose has never heard any such word. He's the one that sees the intelligence hidden away in the girl, and over the year that he's known her, he's tried to educate her as best he can.
Though technically Rose's right hand man, Cal is all the execution behind Rose's ideas. Though too paranoid to ever put himself in an actual position of power, one shouldn't underestimate Cal's influence when it comes to managing the city—although most do. Most government systems and policies have stemmed from Cal's own mind. He has a gift for systematic thought and planning, and he's been putting it to use for a very long time.
Cal, though, is always looking over his shoulder. He never trusts anyone, and even Rose he can't help doubting every so often.

What else should we know? Another two-ish good-sized paragraphs. Tattoos? Piercings? What about your fashion sense? Are you some destitute beggar, or are you the Queen of England? Why do you dress the way you do? Do you have any birthmarks, scars, freckles? How are your eyes shaped? Your hands? Your fingers? There are a lot of complexities to the human body. Get to know your character a little better than you'd like by describing him or her in... all the lurid details. And remember: nobody's perfect. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It wouldn't be polite to call Cal lanky, but really, that's what he is. He isn't particularly muscular, though he isn't a twig, either—and he's surprisingly coordinated, despite being limby as a tree. He's tall and relatively dark, though not as dark as some, with more Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese to him than people tend to assume, hearing he's from South America. Argentinian through and through, he's actually pretty pale, though next to a gaggle of Germans, most wouldn't be able to tell. Thankfully, his skin doesn't burn the way Rose's does after a day spent exploring.
Cal is never not neat. To date, no one's ever seen him with a button askew or a hair out of place. He doesn't even polish his glasses in public. Ever the one to obsess over his public image, Cal is paranoid to the point of screaming and disaster

BirthPlace place RelationshipStatus status
From birth to... this. Even if your character doesn't remember, tell it all in the third person omniscient sort of sense. If your character's been out here for a while, what's he or she gotten up to? How did your character react to entering into the silent world? Before becoming a tithe and after, how did your character come to be the person he is now? Did he or she come willingly? Please go for at least three paragraphs. What's your character's greatest wish? What's her greatest failure?
